ANOTHER 'Making A Murderer' twist: Brendan Dassey is *not* leaving prison now

A US appeal court has blocked the release of Brendan Dassey, who featured in Netflix's Making A Murderer
conviction for the murder of Teresa Halbach in 2005 (when he was 16-years-old) was quashed back in August. Just days ago a judge ordered Dassey's release from prison. But prosecutors immediately launched an emergency motion to stop Dassey leaving prison as they are in the process of appealing against his overturned conviction.
A three-judge panel has ordered that Dassey remain in prison while the outcome of this appeal is still pending.
It's just the latest twist in a legal battle that has spanned years and drawn global attention. Dassey, who has learning difficulties, admitted to the rape, murder and mutilation of Teresa Halbach and was handed a life sentence - but earlier this year a judge ruled that police had coerced him into the confession.
According to The Guardian, prosecutors say they have an "extremely high likelihood" of succeeding with its appeal "because the techniques the investigators used... have been approved by numerous courts."

ON 15TH NOVEMBER 2016 WE WROTE:

A US judge has ordered the immediate prison release of Making A Murderer's  Brendan Dassey.
27-year-old Dassey, who was found guilty of the murder of Teresa Halbach at the age of 16 along with his uncle Steven Avery, was given a life sentence. In August it was announced the conviction had been overturned, and now he is preparing to leave prison under supervision.
Today Dassey must notify the parole office of where his address will be and he is not allowed any contact with Ms Halbach's family or Avery.
Dassey's lawyer, Steve Drizin, said he hoped to get Dassey home in time for Thanksgiving on November 24: "That's what I'm focused on right now, getting him home, getting him with his family and then helping him to re-integrate back into society while his appeal plays out".
Dassey, who has learning difficulties, admitted to the rape, murder and mutilation of Teresa Halbach back in 2005. But the 10-part Netflix documentary cast doubt on the validity of this.
The documentary appeared to highlight that Avery and Dassey may have been framed for murder by officers of in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. They had previously wrongly jailed Avery for 18 years for sexual assault and were facing large financial reprecussions.
Season 2 has now been officially announced but if you can't wait till it hits screens here's our guide to some similiar Netflix alternatives

ON 12TH AUGUST 2016, WE WROTE...

Breaking news: Making A Murderer's Brendan Dassey has had his conviction overturned by a Federal Court in Wisconsin.
Dassey, now 26, and his uncle Steven Avery were convicted of murdering a young woman called Teresa Hallbach in 2005.
The decision by the U.S. District Court in Milwaukee means Brendan Dassey could be free in 90 days unless prosecutors decide to retry him.
Dassey, who was 16 at the time, was sentenced to life in prison.
According to the Associated Press, Judge William Duffin stated in the court ruling that investigators in the 2007 trial made false promises to Dassey by assuring him "he had nothing to worry about".
"These repeated false promises, when considered in conjunction with all relevant factors, most especially Dassey's age, intellectual deficits, and the absence of a supportive adult, rendered Dassey's confession involuntary under the Fifth and 14th Amendments," the judge said.
